First update of 2010

Do you remember these?

wol 006

Well it's not finished yet but up till now these are starting to look like this :

dec 007

1/3 done and working hard to get it finished. Although the process of rippling is very addictive and easy, the color sequence isn't. I'm trying to get the right feel and sometimes that means ripping out some rows and starting over again.

In the meantime I started on another ripple where I don't seem to have that problem. Have a look

dec 002

The yarn is from Bergere the France. (€ 2.69/skein on sale) and the colors are olivine, elephant, orque, marinier, lineaire and persan. Love how this is turning out.

Last but not least I've been working on my Christmas stocking as if Christmas is around the corner. I love this. The design is from Birds of a feather - special delivery (ordered at silverneedle). I didn't follow the colorsheme but like how it looks. It's cross stitched on self dyed Aida 14  cloth. (Dylon Koala brown A29) with a combination of DMC floss and Weeks dye works floss

A New year calls for new resolutions. And as always I'll do my best to stick to them.
To do this I need your help though (but more about that later on)
1.Lose some weight
Yep still fighting against the kgs and the holidays didn't help to loose any. No, quite the opposite actually Schamen But well here we are at a new start and I will try to post my progress - read :weight loss- here.
2. Finish my WIP's /UFO's
I still have my green and purple circle blanket, My Event plaid,My Christmas Quilt and some bits and bobs lying around asking to be finished. In order to get transfer them from UFO's into FO's I will post here at least one finished item a month or at least my progress.

3. Make Debbie Abrahams' Picnic Blanket
I got some Rowan Denim for Christmas and am looking forward to get this one on the road. I will have to check how many blocks it counts and see how to plan this to finish in 2010.
4. Be happy, craft and have fun
Might sound as the easiest resolution of them all, but experience teaches me that we sometimes get caught up into daily life that we forget about simple things like having fun, laugh and craft.

We all make these resolutions with good intentions, but life gets in the way of acting on our personal promises.  This year, I actually intend to stick to them.  Yes, I will!

Here are some steps I discovered to help make it easier for me (and you) to keep that New Year's resolution:

1. Be honest with yourself.  That UFO that has been sitting in your  closet for five years - you really don't like it.  Get rid of it, recycle, give it to a  friend to finish, or donate.  And don't feel guilty about it.

2. Make a pact to not purchase any new fabric, wool or patterns until you have finished one (or all) of your UFO's.

3. Set aside time to work on your UFO.  Even if it's just 5 minutes a day, that is 35 minutes a week that you would not have dedicated otherwise.

4. Ask a little help from yourfriends.  Get together once a week, or once a month, for a stitching session.  You'll easily find the motivation to work on projects if there are others doing the same.

5. Don't try to tackle a large project all at once.  If your resolution is to clean out your stack, do it in stages.  Give yourself 15 minutes at a time and do one thing - like separating your stack into similar colors.  Organize your thread drawer tomorrow when you have another 15 minutes.

6. CELEBRATE!  When you have completed your goal, reward yourself with a visit to your favourite quilt shop, register for a class, or purchase that new quilting tool you've been dreaming of.  You deserve it!
Ok so I'm all set for a new crafty year !
But I wanted to ask you to help me achieve my goals. How can you do this?
Well leave a word of encouragement, a tip , a comment on my Blog on any of the above resolutions throughout this year.
The best entry will get rewarded once a month with a surprise give away.
How  does that sound?

Thanks to all in advance for helping and
Have a smashing 2010 ! !
